Printing on fine paper using late 19th-century technique

HANDMADE PRINTS

Welcome to a world where photography becomes timeless art. My handmade prints bring to life the beauty of ancient photographic techniques, crafted with passion and precision. Each print is a one-of-a-kind creation, blending historical processes with modern artistry to deliver pieces that are as unique as the moments they capture.

The Art of Handmade PRINTING

In an era of mass production, handmade photography stands apart as a celebration of individuality and craftsmanship. Each image is meticulously created using techniques that have stood the test of time, such as Van Dyke printing, Wet Plate Collodion, and Silver Salt darkroom printing. These methods not only preserve the authenticity of the photograph but also imbue it with the richness and depth of analog and digital photography.

Ancient Techniques, Modern Vision

Van Dyke Printing

The Van Dyke process, originating in the late 1800s, creates photographs with a warm, sepia tone that exudes nostalgia. Using handmade silver salt solutions, each print is:

  • Crafted on premium paper.
  • Authenticated and numbered as a single, exclusive artwork (1/1).
  • Enhanced by an artist’s proof archived for historical preservation.

Wet Plate Collodion

Step back into the Victorian era with Wet Plate Collodion photography. Known for its ethereal and detailed quality, this process involves coating a glass or metal plate, exposing it while wet and developing it immediately. The result? An unparalleled image that embodies the beauty of imperfection and handcrafted precision.

Silver Salt Printing in the Darkroom

Analog photography reaches its peak with Silver Salt printing on baryta paper. This method delivers extraordinary detail, rich contrast, and lasting durability, making each print not just a photograph but a lasting legacy.

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

Handmade prints are unique works of art created using ancient photographic techniques. I propose the Van Dyke process or silver salt printing in the darkroom. Each image is meticulously created using historical processes and premium materials, offering unparalleled beauty, depth and longevity compared to standard digital prints.

Each handmade print is made through a fully artisanal process:

Printing: Using traditional darkroom methods or historical techniques.
The result is an irreplaceable and timeless photograph.

Material preparation: High-quality paper and handcrafted chemical solutions based on silver salts.

Image selection: You can choose a photo from your session or let me recommend one.

Yes, absolutely! While these techniques originate from the analog era, they can be seamlessly applied to digital photographs. This innovative approach combines the modern precision of digital photography with the charm and craftsmanship of historical methods.
I am able to create a traditional negative from a digital file, which allows me to use any digital photograph as the starting point. This negative is then used to produce a handmade print using traditional printing techniques, ensuring an authentic and timeless result.

A Handmade Print is more than a photograph—it’s a piece of art that celebrates your story, beauty, and elegance. It’s a tangible, lasting memory and an extraordinarily rare creation, perfect for one-of-a-kind events like weddings. Each print is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, ensuring unmatched artistic and sentimental value.

The creation of a handmade print requires time and dedication. Typically, the process takes a few weeks, depending on the complexity of the chosen technique. Sometimes I need to prepare a new chemical batch for a single print. This ensures every print is perfected down to the finest detail.
